Summer Confidence Part 2

Confidence Building in the Summer – Part 2

So last time I discussed critical initial confidence building. That safety and feeling like you can handle yourself is the first part to building confidence and self-esteem (and therefore builds better grades…

During the summer you need to work on preparation for the rest of the year whether you are an adult or a kid!
The next part of confidence is building physical skills. You don’t have to be Bruce Lee to be a Black Belt… you don’t even have to start out physically talented. We say a Black Belt is a White Belt (beginner) who never quit!

Next is getting accepted…

Now, first off before you can even start to consider becoming a Black Belt at KarateBuilt Martial Arts you have to be accepted. This isn’t easy… before you do that – and the next steps to becoming a confident person – is the process of improving physically…

The next steps…

Maslows Hierachary of Needs
Maslows Hierachary of Needs

What this means is, to be more confident (see Maslow’s Hierarchy on the right again) you must be physically capable.

Physically capable doesn’t mean you have 6-pack abs (though a lot of Black Belts do) or can break boards with your head (nope we really don’t do that…much) but have a body that’s coordinated, strong and healthy.

Karate at KarateBuilt Martial Arts gradually builds physical capability so you (or your child) have confidence you can do / exercise / play / compete at a high level. Even if you have a desk job, if you are out of shape you wont feel as capable (because frankly, you aren’t as capable).

Once physical ability is achieved, truthfully you need to keep maintaining it for the rest of your life (but it’ll be a happier and longer life). This is a BIG step towards 100% rock-solid confidence…

We’ll discuss the next step next time!

Results…..in their own words!
