How to make fitness a life long, positive part of yours and your child’s life – Part 5

How to make fitness a life long, positive part of yours and your child’s life – Part 5!

Finally, at the top the pyramid is the all important REST.

Children not only need adequate sleep at night, but also periods of
rest during the day to recharge.

Discourage long periods of inactivity, such as sitting in front of the
television or playing video games.

Reading a book is an appropriate “rest” activity.

During our children’s classes, opportunities to rest or “recover” are built
into the class structure at various intervals.

At home, making sure your child isn’t staying up too late will ensure a
fresh start with high energy the next day.

In many cases, we, as adults, learn the necessity of exercise based on our
need to lose weight. Because of this way of thinking, we often overlook the
child’s exercise requirement.

A child’s metabolism (burning calories during resting periods) runs much higher
than our adult metabolism and many children do not show the same physical signs
(increased weight) to signal the need for increased exercise.

Fortunately, our KarateBuilt Martial Arts program provides a variety of exercise at all pyramid
levels to help your child develop a strong healthy body!

Sincerely,

Karate
