Make Commitment a Habit Part 2…

Make Commitment a Habit Through the KarateBuilt Martial Arts Program – Part 2!

Last time we discussed how important it is to, not only set goals but to be commited to its attainment!

But what about when we hit the fist “bump in the road” along the way?

There are several ways to respond to challenges.

The first is to just give up.
I call this retractive. As soon as the first obstacle appears, you think,
“I can’t do it” and look for easier goals to attain. Challenges are viewed
as problems that cannot be solved.

The second type of response I label passive.
With this response, you test the strength of the obstacle. You may try
a few things to overcome the obstacle but if they don’t work, you establish
new goals. Challenges are problems that usually require too much effort to
solve.

The third response is called proactive.
Here a challenge is viewed as a learning opportunity. It was Thomas Edison who
said that he “discovered ten thousand ways how not to invent the light bulb.”
When you are proactive to challenges, you continue to test ways to overcome
them in order for your goal to be achieved. Problems are challenges that must
be overcome.

Which way does your child respond to challenges?

Can you see a pattern or habit in your child’s response?

Is your child completing goals, redefining easier ones or
giving up all together?

At KarateBuilt Martial Arts, we have EXPERT instructors that coach students
through the “tough times”, and help them overcome these obstacles!

Sincerely,

Karate
