I have learned discipline, vision, honesty, communication, self-esteem, and respect…

Another Black Belt Story! From Ms. Meaghan Geiger

Karate has taught me how to defend myself from bad people, guns, chokes, and many more things.  I have made new friends in karate.  I have learned discipline, vision, honesty, communication, self-esteem, and respect.

Some of my favorite moves are the butterfly kick, jump front kick, upper cut, and the elbow strike.  My most favorite move is the butterfly kick.  It is my favorite move because there is a lot of movement and power in it.  I am in Karate for Kids and also in the Master Club and Leadership class.  I have also taken the sparring class which is fun and good exercise.  When I spar, it helps me get ready in case anyone ever does punch or kick me I will know. What it feels like and in sparring I also learned how to do one-on-one sparring, two-on-one sparring and three-on-one sparring.

Karate has taught me how to do all of my favorite moves in the right form with power.the first time that I went to karate I was scared that I would not do it right but what I learned was that the teachers would help me learn and not laugh when I made mistakes.  Every time I went to karate I felt better and better about doing it.  And now I am fine.

One of the things I really like about karate is to teach in front of the class.  The reason that I like to teach in front of the class is that it gives me a chance to be in front of the class, help them learn, and because it gives me a lot of confidence.

My goal in karate that I have had since I was a yellow belt was to become a second degree black belt.

And these are all of the things that karate has done for me.

Thanks for a Great Black Belt Story Ms. Geiger!!
