A Parent’s View: The Motivation and Growth We See Every Day
How Karate Built Genevieve’s Confidence—One Goal at a Time
Here’s a quick look at what happens when a child finds a place where confidence becomes real, goals become visible, and effort turns into pride. In today’s spotlight, Chris Genera shares how his daughter, Genevieve, age 7, has transformed inside KarateBuilt Martial Arts Academy—setting goals she can see, pushing herself when things get tough, and discovering a level of motivation that shows up at home every single day.
Take a moment to watch their story. Then read the transcript below. Whether you’re a parent searching for a place where your child can grow—or you’re already part of the KarateBuilt family—Chris and Genevieve’s experience is a powerful reminder of why this training matters.

“So the things we like most about karate are that it’s easy for us to set goals for our daughter. We have goals that are tangible. She sees the results. We can reward her with the stars at home. We see her encouragement and excitement to get better at things, like to do better with kicks, to get excited about sparring. When things don’t go well in class and she knows she can do better, she is excited to work on them at home and we see the desire for her not to fail and to do better when she sees that she’s not lacking in something. So the motivation is great. It’s something that she hasn’t had before, that is a very real thing that we see on a daily basis. So as far as where she’s going in karate, we’re excited to see where she goes and see how long it lasts so that she can make improvements and seek those things out. But in general, that’s why we’re happy. Those are the things that we can see in her.”
