“…more confidence in myself…”
More unedited Karate Black Belt Essay… from Mr. Sammy Ramirez…
When I signed up for Taekwondo it was because my brother and I would get picked on a lot. My mom took us to try out for the classes and we liked it and thought it was fun. It has helped me gain more confidence in myself and a little better at self-control. I still need a little more work, but I am slowly improving. I am not shy like I used to be since I’ve been taking classes and I am more aggressive.
I enjoy Taekwondo classes because it helps me with all the energy that I have. Sometimes it wears me out, but mostly gets more hyper. Becoming a Black Belt makes me proud because it shows for all the hard work that I have been doing. It has also brought me closer to my brothers and sister. When we take classes together we have more fun together because we a re usually fighting a lot. Getting my Black Belt makes me very happy and shows that I have improved from when I first get started.
Earning my Black Belt shows that I worked hard for something and it took me time to earn it. It wasn’t easy getting to this day and I didn’t think I would make it, but my mom made me keep coming no matter what. I’m glad she did because if she didn’t I wouldn’t be getting my Black Belt today. Taekwondo has taught me that if you really want to something you have to work hard for it and earn it because I deserve it. A Black Belt is not something that is given to you, it’s something you work for. I am proud to have something to show for all my hard work..
Thanks Mr. Ramirez!
