Behind Every Confident Child Is a Parent Who Never Quit
When a Parent’s Belief Becomes a Child’s Strength
Some families come to karate hoping it will help their child gain confidence or improve coordination. Others discover something deeper: a place where perseverance is learned, belief is rebuilt, and support from home makes all the difference.
That’s the case for Laurent Lanee and his daughter, Chloe.
From the beginning, Laurent understood that Chloe’s journey would be her own, but she would never walk it alone. With a long medical history that included low muscle tone, autism, balance challenges, and struggles with self-esteem and discipline, Chloe needed more than encouragement. She needed structure, patience, and someone who believed in her even on the hard days.

Since starting karate in August 2024, Chloe has grown in measurable, meaningful ways. Her balance has improved. Her confidence has strengthened. Most importantly, her motivation now comes from within. She watches other students advance, sets her sights on earning a Black Belt, and shows up determined to keep going.
Laurent’s role has been constant and steady—supporting her commitment, reinforcing discipline, and celebrating progress without pressure. And Chloe? She loves training. She loves the instructors, the classes, and the challenge. She puts her whole heart into karate and refuses to quit.
Their story is a reminder: progress happens when a child trains with belief behind them.
Below, you’ll find Laurent and Chloe’s full videos and transcripts.
“I’m Chloe Lanee, and I’ve been doing Karate for a long time now and I love it and I put everything I got into it, put all my love into it because I love it so much and I never want to give up. When you get into Karate, I hope you don’t give up too, so you can be just like me.” –> Chloe Lanee
“We brought Chloe because she has a long medical history, including low muscle tone, autism, balance issues, self-esteem and discipline problems, being very controlling, and not letting anybody else help her out. She’s been attending the karate school since August of 2024. It’s been almost 15 months, and we’ve noticed a lot of improvement with her balance and with her self-confidence. She’s really motivated to get all the way to Black Belt now. She’s seen a lot of other kids going up in ranks and she wants to do the same. It’s really helped her motivation, and she loves coming here. She loves everyone, instructors and the classes. It’s really good for her.” –> Laurent Lanee
