Karate has taught me how to be a good leader!

Another Black Belt essay! From Madison Malthaner

Karate has taught me how to be a good leader.  When I go to leadership class, I learn how to teach others, be confident and make others feel good by telling them what they did well.

Karate has taught me how to be a better student at school, a better helper at home and a better friend.  I do this by watching out for my friends and family, and being a great listener.

Karate taught me how to protect myself from bad guys and help others if they were in trouble.  I’ve learned how to block and move out of the way when bad guys are around me.

Karate has taught me how to be loud and confident.  I remember when I was so scared to yell in class but now I am not anymore.  I am an honest person and I treat others with respect.  Karate has taught me to listen and follow directions so I understand what I need to do.

I’ve learned how to set goals and work hard to practice and earn them.  It meant so much to me to earn medals and trophies especially at the competitions.  I love to bring my medals to school for show and share so that my whole class can see how hard I’ve been working at Karate.

Karate has taught me that you don’t just get your black belt you have to earn it by going to class, doing strong moves, being a leader and lots of practice.

When I am in the grocery store and people see me in my uniform and my recommended black belt, they come up to me.  That makes me feel proud of myself.  They like to tell me short stories about when they were in Karate and they always wish me luck.

Karate has helped me feel great about myself and its lots of fun! I can’t wait to be a black belt!  My parents are going to freak out!

Thanks for a Great Essay!!
