I don’t use this venue to promote specific events here much but September 15th – for the whole community – inside and outside of the KarateBuilt Martial Arts school and in the cities, towns and communities all around – for all the families that live there, we have an event I need all kids and all their parents to come to – it’s on Bullying Prevention.
I could recite the stats (over 1/3 of kids are involved in bullying at any given moment in time… there’s a lot more stats) or I could implore you to come (it’s FREE) but really you have to decide…
is it worth the time (about 60-90 minutes) to have us help you and your kid be safe (maybe forever) from bullying?
If it is? Give us a call!
Sr. Master Greg Moody, Ph.D.
P.S. I hope that last note isn’t too “hard” – I truly am passionate about having everyone attend and be part of the bullying prevention event because well…. if you have a kids, they will probably be part of it one way or another! I hope you can make time for it!
P.P.S. If you can’t make time because you’re booked on the 15th, then please give us a call and we can arrange an individual class – we do offer some small discounts on private training when it’s this topic so feel free to call us to arrange.
P.P.P.S. PLEASE – if you’re reading this – make sure you’re checking out your kids activities… Let me explain how poorly and sometimes dangerously trained – or background checked – some people are before they work with you (or your children). Many people who work with kids:
- Are not background checked by third party independent companies
- Are not CPR certified (important in case of emergencies)
- Have little to no supervised instruction – often they are just practitioners of the sport (like they played football or played baseball. In martial arts they might be a black belt).
- They often haven’t had any formal training in how to teach.
It seems obvious (and critical) that at LEAST these four things are prerequisites to be an instructor at anything but sadly it’s so true that in a vast majority of cases – especially with kids – this seems to be the situation. And even more unfortunately in my favorite field – martial arts – it’s even more prevalent.
The martial arts organization our KarateBuilt schools license curriculum from – the ATA – requires background checks and we have been background checking and vetting our instructors before they even required it (In fact, they used the company we found for their initial system of background checking)!
In addition to the minimum CPR certification we require, over 300 hours of formal supervised live instruction, hours and hours of classroom work and even after that the KarateBuilt Schools repeat that training again and again as long as they are active instructors in our school.
In addition to all that the curriculum and instruction is designed by me from white belt 9for you beginners – that’s the first rank you start with – through 7th degree Black Belt (that’s a LOOOOOOOONNNNNGGGG time – like 30 years). We know and plan our teaching so far in advance the instructors know EXACTLY what they are doing and can train on what to teach with me so they continue to be the best.
Nobody does this – or has these kinds of standards. This makes our instructors the best in the martial arts and I feel the best outside of academic institutions!
